[Note: Dell has added a third monitor option to their special pricing
offer.]
As part of an overall campus effort to reduce greenhouse gas
emissions, the Vice Chancellor's Administrative Council (VCAC), the
Office of the CIO (OCIO), and Cal Overstock and Surplus are sponsoring
a project to replace CRT monitors on campus with energy-efficient LCD
monitors. A replacement credit of $20.00 is available for every LCD
monitor purchased by September 25, 2009, in combination with the trade-
in of a working CRT monitor. There are 1000 replacement credits
available for the project.
Discounted LCD monitors
To further help departments make the switch from CRT monitors to LCDs,
IST's Technology Acquisition and Sales (TAS) has negotiated two great
deals on LCD monitors. This special pricing is available through
September 25, 2009. To order, go to www.dell.com/ucbmonitorprogram.
Dell 19" widescreen flat panel (E1910H) $102.00 + state
environmental fee and tax
Dell 20" widescreen flat panel (E2010H) $141.00 + state
environmental fee and tax
Dell 22" widescreen green flat panel (G2210) $170.00 + state
environmental fee and tax
These prices are valid through Friday, September 25, 2009.
There is no limit on the number of monitors purchasable at these prices.
Each LCD monitor that replaces a CRT monitor saves the University
about 344 kWh of electricity ($30.96), or 104 kg of carbon dioxide
emissions, per year. These small reductions add up and contribute to
the campuswide effort to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions. For
details, see UC Berkeley's 2009 Climate Action Plan.
