The Office of the CIO presents:
"Finding Restricted Data with IdentityFinder"
Friday, August 28th, 2009
10:00 am - 11:30
150 University Hall
Allison Henry from IST-System and Network Security (SNS) will give a
presentation on the IdentityFinder client and management interface which
is now available free of charge to UC Berkeley faculty and staff as a tool
for finding restricted data on campus systems.
IdentityFinder offers a GUI application for self-scanning, as well as a
management interface for creating scheduled scans and viewing results for
multiple hosts. This software replaces Proventure software at UC Berkeley,
including "My ID Protector" and the GCP management suite. For more
information on IdentityFinder see: https://kb.berkeley.edu/kb2702
Topics to be covered in this presentation include:
* Running the IdentityFinder client on Windows and Mac
* Configuring data types for scanning
* Searching for customized terms or keywords
* Creating and deploying custom scan policies
* Securely viewing results (with and without the manager)
* Options for encrypting or securely deleting discovered data
There will be time for Q&A
