Hello CalNet Developers,
This is the second of many reminders that AWS will be retired on
January 5, 2009, and will be replaced by CAS. (CAS has been in
production since August 2007: <http://ls.berkeley.edu/mail/micronet/2007/0619.html
>)
Many applications are already using CAS (we currently have over 200
URLs registered with CAS), and we are very encouraged by the
enthusiasm that has surrounded the rollout of CAS.
However, we know there are still dozens, if not a hundred or so
applications that are still using AWS. Therefore, we ask that you
please convert your applications to CAS as soon as possible, and
preferably by mid December so that the CalNet Team has ample time to
help if you encounter any technical issues.
Over the past 2 months, the CalNet team has hosted three informational
presentations at CalNet Tech Team meetings on different approaches to
CAS conversion. For notes from these presentations, as well as the
most up-to-date information about the the CalNet implementation of
CAS, and general documentation on how to CASify a web application or
web server, please see the CAS section of the CalNet Developer
documentation and the CalNet Tech Team notes at:
<https://calnet.berkeley.edu/developers/developerResources/cas/>
<https://calnet.berkeley.edu/project/committees/technical/>
Unlike with AWS, applications/services/webservers must be registered
to use CAS. So remember to answer the registration questions found here:
