The deadline for the change in the mailing list authorization has been extended to October 15th. Here is another reminder on what will need to be changed prior to that time.

Thanks,

Bernie

CalMail mailing list authorization announcement

The CalMail Team has implemented a new authorization system for
managing mailing lists in CalMail. This new system provides an easy
interface for list owners to delegate mailing list administration and
moderation privileges to individuals.

CalMail departmental accounts

For mailing lists associated with CalMail departmental accounts, it is
crucial that administrator and moderator privileges are delegated
before October 15, 2008. This is because as of October 15, mailing
lists will no longer appear when people log into departmental
accounts.

Using the authorization system

To use the new authorization system,

1) log into "Manage Your Mailing Lists" on the CalMail website:

   https://calmail.berkeley.edu/manage/list/mylists

2) select a mailing list;

3) choose "Set Authorization" in the left navigation bar.

Set Authorization

Selecting "Set Authorization" will display any existing authorizations
for a given mailing list, and will allow list owners to "Add New
Authorizations".

To add a new authorization,

1) select the "Add New Authorizations" link on the "Set Authorization" page;

2) use the search box to look for the person you wish to authorize --
   you can search on the person's complete email address, CalNet UID,
   or name;

3) choose the "Administrator" and/or "Moderator" checkboxes for the person
   you which to authorize (depending on how you do your search, there
   may be more than one name in your search results);

4) click the "Submit Changes" button.

The next time the newly authorized person logs into the CalMail
"Manage Your Mailing Lists" page, they will see a new section that
displays the mailing lists they are authorized to administer or
moderate. Then, all they will need to do is select the list they wish
to manage.
