Has anyone any thoughts on what to do about the change in the default
accesskey combination in Firefox 2 (Windows)? It has gone from ALT +
key to SHIFT + ALT + key, which makes the usual 0,1,2 options
inaccessible.
Granted it is possible to reset this behaviour using about:config and
a setting under ui.*, but the default is the one we have to expect.
The permutations are noted here:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Ui.key.contentAccess
None of the browsers are consistent, but it is unfortunate that
certain keys become hard to reach.
I think the current permutations are these, (based on research as I do
not have access to all of them for verification):
Alt + accesskey followed by Enter
Internet Explorer for Windows
Alt + accesskey
Firefox for Windows before version 2
Mozilla for Windows
Netscape 6+ for Windows
Alt + SHIFT + accesskey
Firefox for Windows 2
SHIFT + Esc + accesskey
Opera for Windows or Mac (actually pops up a list on SHIFT + Esc)
Ctrl + accesskey
Internet Explorer 5.2 for Mac
Safari 1.2 (Mac only)
Firefox for Mac (including 2!)
Mozilla for Mac
Netscape 6+ for Mac
Not supported
Camino (Mac only)
IE<4, Netscape<6
Lynx (2.8.5 rel 1.1 checked)
Probably use 'l' (lower case L) for the link list
