My experience of other organisations (without any internet component)
matches this, so I do not think it is anything unique to the 'net. I
know I do not contribute equally to every organisation of which I am a
member (formally or informally). If everyone contributed measurably
(not the top 90+%) to _one_ organisation or another, I still doubt
that it would make much impact - there are a lot of organisations out
there.
