Information Services and Technology (IST) is currently recruiting for a
temporary Web Developer - Computer Resource Specialist II to join Client
Services - eStore Technology Group.

The Web Developer participates in the planning, development, testing, and
maintenance of TSW’S web sites and web applications, and the technical
implementation of these projects. This individual will be required to
collaborate and communicate with other team members including management,
purchasing, marketing, sales teams, as well as vendor representatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Website Administration -50%
Add, modify and delete products displayed in the TSW web store. Work
independently to write clear and concise short and long product
descriptions and technical data sheets from information provided by
vendors, purchasing staff and sales staff through web pages, PDFs, and
printed material.
Provide continuous, on demand, updating of product information in the
computer store’s web-enabled database and html documents, essential to
providing the customer with the most up-to-date features and pricing.
Monitor and maintain web links to vendor’s sites and products.
Organize products into categories based on logical product groups; i.e.
computers, printers, software, etc., and marketing groups, e.g. rebates,
back to school specials, etc.
Assist in design, development, and implementation of web store
merchandising and marketing plans.

Web Site Design -30%
Provide website administration support including HTML coding, database
content management, and interface design maintenance.
Design graphics, page layout, text formatting and navigation for web sites.
Create and maintain up to date information pages and news items for TSW
site from information provided by vendors, purchasing staff and
management. Write and edit content targeted for various TSW customer
bases; i.e. departments, students, staff.
Insure hyperlink integrity so that site visitors may access all
information quickly and easily.
Correct ongoing issues: i.e. broken links, poor formatting, spelling
errors, page organization, etc.

Desktop Publishing - 10%
Design marketing and advertising documents, such as flyers, price sheets,
catalogs and mailers. Create camera-ready copy for submission to
newspapers, journals and other advertising media. Provide public relations
technical support and assist with internal communications. Convert
documents to PDF for web download, and edit as necessary. Assist in
design, development, and implementation of merchandising and general
marketing plans.

REQUIREMENTS
A thorough understanding of Web and database systems on Macintosh,
Windows, and UNIX computers is required.
Experience in developing web sites using Mac OS X, UNIX and Apache Web
Server is required.
Demonstrated proficiency in Web page setup, editing, links, and creative
design is required.
Proficiency in Web programming including: HTML, XHTML, CSS and JavaScript
is required.
Experience with web development tools such as Dreamweaver and Photoshop.
Understanding of information architecture, navigation principles, and
browser and platform issues as they relate to web design required, in a
Macintosh environment preferred.
Experience with image optimization for the web is required.
Ability and willingness to learn programming languages and applications,
i.e. PHP, WebDNA, Perl, used by the department is required.
Strong presentation, communication, and collaboration skills, enabling
effective interaction and knowledge transfer to teammates is required.

This is a full-time position for approximately 5 months. There is a strong
possibility that this position will be permanent. A separate recruitment
will be conducted then.
