REMINDER!
Date: Tuesday, November 15, 2005 (TOMORROW)
Time: 12 noon to 1:30 pm
Place: 303 Doe Library
Topic: Syndicate your web content the Really Simple way
Websites are a great way to get your message out, but only to those who
come to visit regularly. How can you draw people back, letting them know
when you publish new content? RSS feeds are a promising way to distribute
your information far beyond its normal web home. Steve McConnell, editor
of the campus NewsCenter, has been tinkering with RSS for a couple of
years now, creating feeds for campus news and events and finding new ways
to get them used on and off campus. In this Webnet talk, he'll look at
what an RSS feed is, how to generate one (manually or automatically), how
readers and other websites can make use of them, and whether they live up
to their name of Really Simple Syndication.
Speakers:
Steve McConnell, Web news editor, UC Berkeley
