I think you would be much better off sending a text-only e-mail
message with a URL to the graphical portions of the content in it.
Not only is it much kinder to the recipients (it takes much less time
to download), but you also will avoid any HTML flakiness in mail
clients. From what I've seen, many mail clients--including, but not
limited to Eudora--have real problems with all but the most basic
HTML code.
If you put your URLs on a line by themselves, the great majority of
mail clients will interpret that URL as a link and make it very easy
for the user to click through to your page.
