I heard recently that Flash now can be subtitled, which makes it more
accessible.
I haven't explored Flash alternatives, primarily because of the
accessibility issue, but also because of the download time issue, which
goes back to the Javascript Flyout Menus issue. Between 60-70% of my
visitors are from off campus computers, so speed is an issue.
Perhaps that's the key. Download speed. I've noticed some sites with lots
of Javascript take a long time to load, and there have been occasions when
they've crossed my 8-second attention span limit. Javascript experts - is
this a feature of badly written Javascript, or just the inevitable
consequence of complicated scripts?
Any comments sincerely appreciated,
Anna
