Hello Webnet,

I'm looking for some thoughts/opinions/ammunition regarding Javascript and
flyout menus. I'm having a ... discussion ... with a coworker about
implementing them on a future website, and wanted to see what the general
campus attitude is towards them.

My own thoughts as a web developer are somewhat mixed. I've seen flyout
menus done well, and they are handy. However, since I won't put something
like this on the web without extensive testing and a non-Java alternative,
the development time commitment cancels out the bells-and-whistles aspect.
On a personal level, as long as I can mouse around on a website without
those menus popping up, I'm fine.

Does anyone have any user feedback on how useful such menus are? If you've
used such menus, what's been your experience? Any key browser issues? How
were they on the progamming side - easy to set up or needing extensive
Javascript experience? Any other issues?

Thanks,

Anna
