WebCT New Product Demonstration
An Enterprise Level Learning Management System
Tuesday, February 12, 9 AM, Dwinelle 117.
WebCT is one of the leading developers of learning management systems in
higher education.
UC Berkeley currently supports the low-end "standard" version of WebCT,
which is not specifically designed to integrate with the registrar's
enrollment system or the CalNetId single sign-on system.
However, WebCT's "enterprise-level" system is designed to work with these
sysetms (e.g. to let students and faculty login with their CalNetIDs and to
automatically list students WebCT's gradebook if they are enrolled in the
course).
On Tuesday, February 12, Educational Technology Services is sponsoring a
demonstration of the forthcoming enterprise version of WebCT. WebCT is
flying in one of the developers of the product for this meeting. The
meeting starts at 9AM in Dwinelle 117. After the demo there will be time
for questions. At 11 there will be time to show the product to later
arrivers and to answer more questions.
The WebCT website ( http://webct.com/ ) tells about the company.
The current "campus edition" of WebCT is described at:
http://webct.com/products/viewpage?name=products_campus_edition
The demonstration on Tuesday will discuss the forthcoming version of
WebCT's enterprise level system, which is reportedly based on J2EE. This
version of their system is not described on their website.
