Microsoft Select 6.0 is finally in place

Here's an update on the Microsoft Select licensing program. The UC
system was supposed to move to the Select 6.0 contract on 1/1/02, but
UCOP's negotiations with Microsoft over the terms on the contract
took longer than expected. To address this delay, UCOP tried to get
a formal extension of the prior Select 4.1 contract. This didn't go
forward at Microsoft, so UC was between contracts for a few weeks.
You may have heard that "TRC was not accepting Microsoft Select
orders" during this period. This was not actually the case, as
arrangements were made to deal with orders even during this period.

Now that the Select 6.0 contract is officially in place, orders for
Microsoft Select products should proceed normally. All such orders
should be placed with the UC reseller, TRC.
