Folks,
A reminder about the upcoming brownbag lunch for Campus webfolk. This is an
informal gathering of persons who are UCB campus webmasters, or webmaster
wannabes, or who have any interest or involvement in the way the web
functions and is put together on this campus.
We're gonna do this on Monday, August 13th. The room will be available from
11:30 to 1:30: Dwinelle room 370, which is a conference room on the top
floor of Dwinelle. Take the elevator up as far as it goes.
This is gonna be a brownbag lunch (and we want to make sure that we leave it
in the state that it's in when we arrive), so bring your own everything.
There won't be a speaker or any formal presentations, but . . . several
people have suggested that they'd like to see topics discussed, so I thought
maybe I'd suggest some topics, and devote table space to people who want to
sit and chat about them. These are my choices, and there are obviously many
others. If you want to "host" other topics, pull up a table and identify it
with your own particular choice of topic. Here are 3 suggestions:
1. General campus web guidelines or standards, like:
Frames or no frames
Golive or Dreamweaver or Cold Fusion, or whatever
Text vs WYSIWYG
Web-based job classifications
Resources
2. For the technologically inspired:
Cutting edge technologies
The future of web development
XML
3. For the reasonably paranoid:
Security issues related to web deployment/developoment
The main purpose of this get together is to meet people, talk about web
stuff, do some networking, and most of all come away with a good feeling
about your place in the UCB Webworld.
