Micronet Meetings 2009
Meetings will begin promptly at 10:30.
Wednesday, January 28, 10:30-noon: Location 150 University Hall
*Managing computer labs on campus: best practices, campus resources, outside
resources, share what works and what doesn't.
Do you manage a computer lab on campus, work at a lab, use one of the many
labs for students, staff and faculty. We plan to have a discussion
involving current lab managers from IS&T, Law, Residential Computing, and
Social Welfare. How do you get labs up and running efficiently, what unique
problems do you have, what are common issues, lab innovations-how do we
change labs to reflect new uses we all make of computers and technology.
Discussants: Sian Shumway, Tim Faircloth, Vanessa DeGuzman, Thomas Lee,
Yu-Hung Lin, Roger Emond, Claudia Waters and you
Please come with your experiences, solutions, problems, questions.
.
--Future Meetings:
We are in the process of getting speakers and scheduling these topics for
January through May 2009:
*Group Policies for Active Directory: upcoming workshop in early February
has been cancelled because of the budget.
*Imaging, Symantec Ghost and Altiras, Acronis
Vista: have you converted yet? Are there departments who have made the
conversion and can share their experiences
*Thin Client technology for labs and work groups.
Shel Waggener will speak at a Spring 2009 meeting on campus IT issues
Email claudiaw_at_berkeley.edu if you'd be available to participate in any of
these discussions and let us know if there's a topic you want to see
covered. If you made a suggestion previously and the topic hasn't been
covered, let us know again.
Thanks.
