A late reply to this thread, but some good news to share

For those of you who don't want to wait for this app, there's a $2
application available from the iTunes App Store that makes it really
easy to log in to AirBears (and many, many other similarly protected
WiFi networks, like the AT&T ones at Starbucks). It's called Easy Wi-
Fi, and it's available at:
http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=288328989&mt=8

I just discovered it this morning, and I'm really pleased with how
well it works so far--it makes logging into AirBears from an iPhone/
iPod Touch completely painless.

Apparently they also make a version for other smartphones, Mac OS X
and Windows, but I haven't tried those yet. See https://my.devicescape.com/
  for details.

Hope this helps,

Ian
