that's a good thing: students pick these things up much more readily than
faculty (and staff, for that matter).

to Greg's comment: yes, on & off should be in the same place. and actually
they are, if you take the time to open "network connections," wireless can
be enabled and disabled there. i only mentioned the task bar method because
it's simpler. not super-simple, but if you want that, most laptops have a
mechanical switch on the outside that turns *everything* on and off.
