TrueCrypt (http://www.truecrypt.org/) for Windows supports a "traveller
mode" that allows it to be run on a portable drive without needing to
install the software on the computer where it is plugged in. However,
you need to be logged in to the computer with administrator privileges
in order to use the portable drive in traveller mode. Installing
TrueCrypt on the machine also requires administrator privileges, but
once installed an ordinary user account can use TrueCrypt.
