Hi Eric,
Can you try another XP cd, or another OS, like a Linux Live CD?
Or, you could rerun the Vista installation CD, and get to the part with the
disk tools - see http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=352.
On the partitioning screen, click on Drive Options (Advanced), and delete
the existing partitions. Then , reboot to your XP installation cd, and it
should run.
Or, you can make a boot cd of your own, such as the Ultimate Boot CD:
http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/
And use the disk tools on that disk. Boot and nuke should take care of it.
