Letters & Science Computing Resources (LSCR), provides comprehensive computing
support for the College of Letters & Science. LSCR offers a variety of support
programs for faculty and administrative staff within the College on a recharge
basis. LSCR provides support and maintenance of individual workstations; the
design and development of information management systems, architecture and
administration of distributed computing platforms; individual customer contact
and timely response to customers needs; and backup administration.
Responsibilities:
Provide expert hardware/software support for PC and Macintosh systems to
departments and programs within the College of Letters & Science. Responsible
for installation, configuration, system security and troubleshooting a variety
of technical issues in a multi-platform environment that includes Microsoft
Windows and Macintosh systems. Adheres to strong (industry standard) systems
administration techniques and procedures. Provide hands-on training for new
customer supported software applications and/or databases. As a member of the
Windows server team, work with Windows servers and Active Directory, including
managing user permissions, managing groups, monitoring account policies and
troubleshooting group policies. Assist in implementing system security
policy, including firewalls, server/client access, file permissions, and
creating and managing user accounts.
Requirements & Qualifications:
Significant experience installing and configuring Windows desktop clients
(Windows 2000 and XP). Experience working with Windows file sharing and print
servers. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and other typical desktop
applications. Excellent oral and written communication, customer service, and
organizational skills.
Desired qualifications:
Experience troubleshooting and managing Mac OS X desktop systems. Experience
with FileMaker Pro database development and design.
