Charles:

I have two techniques for companies that ask for email addresses unreasonably:

1) Check http://bugmenot.com to see if they have a login for the site

2) Create a mailing list (on lists.berkeley.edu for example), put
myself on it, give that address to the website, then delete the list
as soon as I get the confirmation email. (or get tired of getting
mail from that company)
