Copy Cloner utility, made previously on this list, this is to offer
an enthusiastic recommendation for SuperDuper, David Nanian's
$19.95 shareware disk utility for Mac OS X:

  I've had at least one instance where using a current, and relatively
recent, version of Carbon Copy Cloner totally trashed a source volume.
Admittedly, I had switched out to another user account in Panther while
leaving the cloning process running in my initial account, which likely
confused it to no end. But I've never yet experienced any data loss
when using SuperDuper, even when similarly playing fast and loose while
it was working.
