Re: Attachment attack

Maybe now's a good time for me to also repeat my request
(and this time publically) that the CalMail team "fix" the
vacation auto-responder so that it does NOT reply to list or
alias mail.

From the CalMail Forwarding and Automatic Reply page:

"The automatic reply/vacation message is sent
if the message being received appears to be
human generated; i.e. not sent by an automatic
responder or "vacation" program, and not sent
    to a mailing list. "

There's also a KB note about this:
http://kb.berkeley.edu:80/cgi-bin/kb/answer.pl?question=kb206

We've obviously been seeing differently.

Responding to mailing list messages and those sent by alias
is not only potentially confusing/annoying to the recipients
of such auto-responses, but it also exposes information
about the owner of the auto-responding account.

Some people may prefer (unwisely) that their autoresponder
react to all such messages, but by default should only
respond to messages on which the user is directly mentioned
in the To: header (and arguably, the Cc:).
