SecureLink Customers [Reminder 2],
The SecureLink Pilot Service will be shutdown, disconnected, never to be
run again TOMORROW, Sunday, February 1, 2004 as announced two weeks ago.
Perhaps I did not make clear that this is not just maintenance but the
final shutdown of this pilot now that CalMail does secure connections.
Please tell anyone that you think may still be using SecureLink but has
somehow not gotten the message. Sorry to bug you yet again but numerous
customers are still using SecureLink even as I compose this message.
All SecureLink customers should re-configure their clients to use CalMail
secure SSL/TLS connections ("http://bert.berkeley.edu/calmail/help").
For Eudora 5.2.1 and higher we recommend using "Required, STARTTLS" rather
than "If Available, STARTTLS". With "Required, STARTTLS", you will
be notified if a secure connection could not be established.
SecureLink customers that were using the special ports that allowed SSL to
work with Eudora versions 5.1 and 5.2 will unfortunately have to upgrade
to at least 5.2.1 to continue using secure connections with CalMail (or
set Secure Sockets to "Never").
