Using digital projector with Dell laptop/nvidia

Hi Folks:

This question forces me to consider that I am losing my memory faster
than expected...

Periodically, for whatever reason, when we use this pair of devices
(Dell Inspirion laptop Win XP and Luxeon X2+ projector) they forget
how to talk to each other. I've asked around and supposedly, if the
control panel is set to use the LCD projector to mirror the laptop,
then it should hold that setting til altered. The laptop is
occasionally used without the projector and I suspect that's when
they lose track...

When this happens, i use the Display control panel/settings
tab/advanced button (this is what I remember) and there is a tab for
TwinView, where is click to mirror the two and all is well again.
But it seems that this tab isn't always available!!! In order to
write up instructions for others who may run into this, I tried to
walk through the steps and take notes: without the projector attached
there was no TwinView tab. I attached the projector (they spoke to
each other nicely) and still no TwinView!! Does this only appear when
they aren't talking. None of this makes sense to me...

Or am I forgetting where the TwinView tab is located and just THINK
it appears and disappears?

Help!

Thanks once more...
michael
