And Microsoft even does that to their own data formats! Just a couple of
days ago,
I had to resurrect an old Word document (don't know if it was for DOS, or
WFW 3.11 ..)
Anyhow, my version of Office would not read it, and I had to use a
third-party program
to convert it to a more modern Word format.
