Hi, Micronetters

I have a users who has to open both Microsoft word and excel documents from
a drive on a remote server. The issue is that she has a problem with
frequent system freezes when attempting to open the documents.

She is running Windows 2000 Professional with SP 3 and all the current
critical patches/updates. She is also running a Pentium III processor and
has 512MB RAM. The hard drive is 20GB with plenty of room to spare.

She has all the same programs installed as many other users with like
workstations (O/S, setup, Oracle client, Eudora, MS Office, etc...).

This issue also occurs when she tries to open word/excel attachments from
BearMail. She does not want (or have to) to download the files to the hard
drive and as to the files on the remote server, they are shared files with
others in the department accessing, etc, she needs to access from the
server (this should not be an issue but...).

As to TSR's she isn't loading via the STARTUP and does not have more than
four programs in the system tray (Norton, video card monitor, Hypersnap,
and MS Player).

The memory checks out ok and the hard drive doesn't have any errors. The
disk is defragmented and Norton says there are no virus problems.

Anyone have any suggestions to alleviate the freeze problem?

Thanks bunches!

Charles
