The latest public description of anti-spam plans for UCLink and
Socrates that I'm aware of appears in the following article:

"Antispam measures coming to UCLink and Socrates"
     http://istpub.berkeley.edu:4201/bcc/Spring2003/news.antispam.html

On May 1, 2003, the campus's academic shared Unix system, Socrates,
officially started "tagging" probable spam messages by adding two
"X-Ucb-" X-headers to those messages. In addition, messages with a
high degree of spam probability also receive a [SPAM:XXXXXXX...]
prefix in the Subject line.

Details regarding this tagging, including how to configure e-mail
client programs to detect and act on these tags, can be found in
Socrates' Spam FAQ:

     "Socrates and Spam"
     http://socrates.berkeley.edu/Help/Email/spam/

My understanding is that message tagging, in addition to one or
more server-side filtering options, is anticipated to be implemented
for the UCLink system sometime during this summer. Perhaps one of my
colleagues on the UCLink service team might wish to comment further
in a follow-up response to the Micronet list?
