Hi Pat,
We use the 4100N, and it still periodically makes the loud noise after
having it serviced when the machine was new. It just makes the noise
less often now.

Subject: [Micronet] experience with HP 4100n?
Hi Micronetters,
We purchased an HP 4100 several months ago & found that it had an
intermittent, very loud squeak. This was unacceptable to the people in
the
nearby offices. When I called HP, they said they knew about the problem
and that their engineers were "working on it". We returned the printer
(and bought the 2200).
We now need another new printer, and it looks like the 4100 would meet
our
needs where the 2200 would not (need a paper tray that can accommodate
legal-size paper). I'd like to know whether the problem with our 4100
was
an unusual occurrence, or all too common. If you have, or had, a 4100,
I'd
be interested to hear how it worked for you.
TIA,
-Pat
