BetterTelnet is a freeware telnet application for the Mac OS that
was formerly distributed by IST-WSSG, both on the now moribund
http://mac.berkeley.edu Web site (now supplanted by
http://software.berkeley.edu) and via the Connecting@Berkeley CD.
Starting with the C@B 2002 CD, which was released approximately one
year ago, BetterTelnet was replaced by MacSSH, another freeware Mac
OS telnet application.
There is a manual for BetterTelnet version 1.2.2 available for
downloading via a link at the bottom of its author's product page:

If what you're attempting to do is use BetterTelnet to offer
simple, temporary FTP service from a Macintosh running Mac OS 9.2.x,
you might instead consider obtaining the free demonstration version
of Maxum Development's Rumpus, which is a robust and full-featured
commercial FTP server for both the Classic Mac OS and Mac OS X. The
current demonstration version expires on August 31, 2002:

Another possibility might be to run the WebSTAR version 3.0.x Web
server with the WebSTAR FTP plug-in. The UC Berkeley campus has a
site license for WebSTAR version 3, and newer versions are available
for purchase from the vendor, 4D.
