BackupExec will not back up a second server without a multi-server
license. You should still see the machine in the browse list, however,
unless they are running standalone mode without a common browser. Or are
they on different subnets?

On the sharing front - if you do not have some share open, you cannot
access the machine. You should be able to get at the admin shares (C$
etc.) If the share is permissions locked to just the backup account there
should be no exposure.
