The coordinator of the UC-wide software licensing group has asked if
the UC campuses would be interested in a volume purchase of
GeneSpring software from Silicon Genetics. This product is licensed
on an annual basis, and the cost can cut by one-half if there are 21+
users, and by two-thirds if there are 50+ users. Details of the deal
have not been worked out yet. What I need to know now is whether
there is any interest at Berkeley. Please send any responses
directly to me. I will summarize the responses for UCOP prior to a
meeting with the vendor next Wednesday.

GeneSpring is a Java product, so it can run on many platforms.
