All,
At around 2:30 pm this afternoon, there was a campus-wide power surge.
There has been no repeat of this activity, but we would suggest that you
have your building occupants check sensitive equipment to be sure there has
been no damage. The spike in electric current may have set off some
building's alarms - these are being reset as quickly as PP-CS can manage.
All computer systems in the central campus computing facility were affected
by the power surge and taken down to safeguard system integrity. Any delay
in restarting systems was getting a green light from PP-CS, ensuring us
that building power had stabilized. After power was restored support staff
were able to have all systems, but one, up and operational by 4:15 pm.
