Reminder: IST is sponsoring a seminar describing two new products from
Yahoo Inc.: their Yahoo!Enterprise Services for building institutional and
corporate web sites ( http://corporate.yahoo.com ) and Yahoo!Education for
creating course environments ( http://education.yahoo.com ).
The seminar will be on Wednesday, SEPTEMBER 26, 2001, FROM 10:00 - NOON, IN
ROOM 150 UNIVERSITY HALL.
Information on the presenters is appended. (Personal note: I have heard
all these people talk about the Yahoo products and services; they are
knowledgeable and articulate.)

Michael Martin - Main Presenter
Michael Martin is currently the Director of North American Operations for
Yahoo!'s Enterprise Services division. Previously, Michael was the Vice
President of Sales, West, for Sterling Software's Enterprise Portal Division
in 1998 - 2000. Prior to that, Michael spent six years at Information
Advantage, an early Business Intelligence and Enterprise Information Portal
leader, in consulting and systems engineering management roles. Michael
graduated with a BA in Computer Science and Quantitative Methods from the
University of Saint Thomas in Saint Paul, MN.
Jeff Pedigo
Jeff Pedigo is the Chief Product Evangelist for the Corporate Yahoo!
enterprise portal offering. Jeff has been with Yahoo! for 16 months,
working with customers, press, analysts, and partners to develop and
communicate Yahoo!'s various enterprise solutions. Jeff brings over 16 years
of operations management, marketing, and IT consulting with companies in the
start-up, mid-size, and Global 2000 segments including Deloitte Consulting
and Bristol-Myers Squibb.
Kathy Berkshire
Kathy Berkshire currently manages Western Region Sales Operations for Yahoo!
Enterprise Services division. Prior to joining Yahoo!, she worked with EMC
Corporation and was responsible for sales with large worldwide accounts such
as Visa International. Previously, Kathy was the Sales Manager for Tangent
Computer for five years, where she ran operations in five states working
exclusively with educational institutions and government agencies. Kathy
holds a MBA in Marketing from the College of Notre Dame.
Catherine Davis
Catherine Davis is the producer of Yahooligans!, Yahoo!'s award-winning Web
guide for children ages 7 - 12. In addition to managing all editorial
content on the site, she is also responsible for the development,
maintenance, and integrity of the Yahooligans! directory. As the
Yahooligans! producer, Davis also acts as a consultant for the education and
children-related content areas across the Yahoo! network. Prior to joining
Yahoo! in 1997, Davis was a technology coordinator at a San Francisco school
where she worked with the faculty to create integrated technology programs
for more than 300 students. She also served as one of the school's student
advisors from 1993-1997, acting as a mentor and advocate of students, grades
6 - 8. Previously, Davis taught third, fourth, and sixth grades for ten
years, specializing in language arts and social studies. Davis holds a B.A.
degree in Rhetoric/English from the University of California at Davis.
