Hi everyone,

We have a difficulty that is cropping up more often these days. A
professor leaves for Australia, Britain, Germany, Spain, etc., and
needs to correspond/exchange information via the Internet. It's not a
matter of registering for a campus e-mail account or even a free web
mail account. It's that they've had difficulty dialing in. (These are
often older faculty members who are not able to deal with
high-learning-curve technological situations.)

I'm unaware of any service through UCB that allows a travelling
faculty member to actually get on-line abroad without dialing long
distance, and most host universities don't seem to provide for them.
In the past we've signed them up on Compuserve or AOL and have had
terrible luck with their international services.

Does anyone have experience with this sort of issue, or a
recommendation for an international isp? Thanks.

Sincerely,
Jennifer Gwirtz
