Hello,
The usual apologies for cross posting but this is an issue that may hit
people with different expertises.
I have an NT Server 4 (Service Pack 6 installed) that is having
intermittent problems sharing folders with many files (probably over
100,000 and @6 gigabytes in size-this is a pre-production Web Server) with
my Mac workstations (typically G3's running System 9.) If I create (a Mac
volume) and share folders that have just a few thousand files in them for
example I don't have any problems (the folder\volume is consistently
visible). Peer to peer networking for PC's is never a problem.
To restore sharing on the folder with 100,000+ files I have had to
re-create the share\Mac volume. Sometimes the Server will hang during this
process (a soft hang, I can shut down the process).
So with this background, my questions are;
-Are there any known NT Server issues in sharing Folders\Mac Volumes that
contain above a certain amount of files?
-Why am I getting hangs\crashes from trying to re-create shares\Mac volumes?
Any clues, ideas and solutions appreciated.
Thanks.
