(apologies for the cross-posting, it's kinda both a micronet and magnet
sort of problem).
I have a Virtual PC question for folks:
I've got a 1.67GHz Powerbook G4, 1Gig ram, running VPC with windows XP.
Although it initially was running slowly-yet-tolerably for the few
things I have to have a PC to do, at one point a few months ago it just
got glacial.
So much so, that I completely blew it away and reinstalled from
scratch. This seemed to work until at some point in the windows xp
update cycles (which hijacked the machine during a restart and took
about 8 hours to finish at one point, Medieval indeed...) after which
it has gotten, if not as bad as before, pretty sluggish.
So my working theory right now is that a security update has bogged it
down somehow, and the emulation is amplifying the effect.
I'm hoping to get an intel based mac and use bootcamp in the future, but
for now I'm looking to see if anybody else has run into similar issues,
and any solutions that might have worked, even partially.
Thanks-
