C@B 2006 for Macintosh - beta now available for testing!

   The first public beta of the Connecting@Berkeley 2006 CD for the
Macintosh - the easiest way to set up an unmanaged or lightly
managed Macintosh to meet the campus's minimum security standards and
connect it to the Internet via the campus's wired, wireless, and
dial-up networks - is now available for testing at:

   http://software.berkeley.edu/mac/cab/2006Beta/

   We invite you to begin testing immediately; there will be a
relatively short beta cycle again this year. The earlier you can
provide comments, the higher the likelihood will be that the CD will
do what you and your users need it to do.

   Another incentive: a prize drawing for testers who provide feedback
will be offered again this year.

   A list of software included on the current beta appears below.
Note that the latest versions of software like Eudora (6.2.3) and the
Tiger-compatible Norton AntiVirus (10.0 Corporate) and Cisco VPN
Client (4.6.04) are included.

   This year's CD is the first to exclusively support Mac OS X;
support for Mac OS 8 and 9 has been dropped. The 2006 CD supports
Mac OS X 10.2 ("Jaguar"), 10.3 ("Panther") and, for the first time,
10.4 ("Tiger").
