10.4 for recent purchases

I just clarified with a staff member at TSW that, unlike in the past,
if you purchase a system with Panther installed on it after either
the Tiger announce date (4/13) or its release date (4/29), you DON'T
automatically have legal title to the new OS (in this case Tiger).

You have to buy the 9.95 DVD installer which also includes the Tiger license.

So for those of us who will have department bulk license purchases
and installer DVDs -- we still have to go out and buy the $9.95 DVD
for every new systems coming to us with Panther installed to stay
legal, or wait until mid/late May to buy systems with Tiger
installed. A pain for license maintenance, drat it all...

I wasn't thrilled since I was going to buy several systems all at
once. Now I'll defer all those I can, and hope those TSW specials
will hold until the Tiger-installed systems arrive...
