Beige G3 models can run OS X, but they are not officially supported
under 10.2-10.3. There is a utility called XpostFacto that bootstraps
10.2-10.3 on to these machines, but you are in unsupported territory.
10.1 is officially supported, but wobbly - thus the class action suit
and settlement from Apple.
On the beige G3, OS X (10.0-10.1) must be installed on the first 8 gig
of the drive. So you need to partition the drive, with the first (OS
X) partition no larger than 8 gig.
See;

page=XPostFacto.html
Note from personal experience: the beige G3 will work with OS X, but
depending on your RAM and peripherals or PCI cards installed, it may
not be pretty. I would be scrupulous about backing up important data.
Periodically my beige G3 would kernel panic under 10.1, return a "keys
out of order" error that rendered the drive unmountable and even
DiskWarrior couldn't recover the drive. Only a reformat and clean
install would fix it. Then, the problem would happen again. After a
few iterations, I gave up. Your experience may be better, and there
are happy beige G3 users out there with OS X, but be on guard.
Good luck!
