The cost of Software Assurance is pro-rated on an annual basis. So
when a department buys a license together with SA during a Select
contract period, the cost goes down the later in the contract period
the purchase is made. The granularity is annual, so it's possible a
department could pay for a year and get less than a year of coverage.
But that might be acceptable to a department, depending on
circumstances.
