Hi Larry and others,

As we all know, it's a catch-22 sending out an email to people to explain
an email problem. :-) However, there is another way to get up-to-date info
about email problems.

If you or anyone else on campus are having email problems (or problems
with other central IST systems) you can check the IST system status page
located at:

http://systemstatus.berkeley.edu/

Whenever there is an email problem, it shows up here very soon thereafter.

The system status page has an RSS link if you use a news reader:

http://systemstatus.berkeley.edu/system_status.xml

Of course, the system status page is not as detailed as what is written
below, but it does give a good heads-up about the problem.

Also, the micronet and magnet archives are updated all the time with the
latest postings, so you don't need to be subscribed to micronet, or even
have an email account, to read what's being posted:
