You might try M.A.C. Computers on Shattuck near University. They have a pretty big repair operation and are nice people, they could probably tell you how to put it back together or give you a look.

You might also want to try the Used Computer Outlet on Shattuck near Dwight, they are not that nice but they usually have computers and monitors of that vintage for sale, you could probably stroll in and just look.

Finally, google may yield an Apple technician manual online somewhere, I've seen them for computers and I imagine people have posted others also.
