Endnote 7.0 and Panther

Folks,
I've had students tell me that they are having problems with Panther
(OS 10.3) and Endnote 7.0 and Word. When they try to enter a
reference in Word the program enters a lot of gobbledy gook. Also,
when they try to format the reference, it is very difficult.
Apparently, OS 10.2 and Endnote 6.0 do not have this problem.

Does anyone know of why this is happening and if there are any
solutions? The student told me that they went to the EndNote website
and there were no upgrades or patches that they could find to fix the
problem.

I just bought Office 2004 for the Mac but have not received it yet.
Will the new version of Word fix this problem?

Any help would be appreciated.
