Hi all,
Having just rebuilt my two Global Catalog Servers (Win2000 server) due
to attacks by hackers taking them over as FTP servers, I will be purchasing
a Hardware Firewall and working with CNS to install it in our Network
closet. I have had it with intruders and am taking steps to lock down our
school. As for platforms, anybody running anything less than Win2000 pro on
a windows platform and OS X on a Mac platform here at the school should
make plans to upgrade soon. I would, however, think twice about jumping
platforms. Even though the evil hackers are starting to attack the mac OS,
it still is the most protected OS we have right now.
If anyone has suggestions for a hardware firewall that will comply
with the University standards, drop me a line.
Cheers,
Roy
