The firewall issue is not your only problem. One of the requirements
of the minimum security policy is "Campus networked devices must run
software for which security patches are made available in a timely
fashion." Since Apple is no longer providing patches for OS 9, simply
running OS 9 is a violation of the standard, whether or not you have a
firewall. This is also true for obsolete versions of Windows.
