OSX.3 install problems

Dear All,

I seem to have nothing but problems when I upgrade. After giving up
on Jaguar and running 9.2.2 as a start-up disk on my G4 dual 450. I
decided to upgrade to Panther. On the install I had the disk wipe
out the hard drive and start clean with the software. I left while
it was upgrading and came back to an error message that it could not
install. After getting to install again (wiping the drive clean
again) I watched the entire install process with the Installer Log
listing "show errors and progress." The following are highlights of
what happened:

Does this make any sense to anybody? I reinstalled OS 9.0.2 this
morning. I'm sorry for this question being so long. If anybody has
any advice I'm all ears. Also I had been having trouble for the last
few months with restart and shutdown in the menu on 9.2.2. I would
always have to turn off or reset the computer manually. I tried to
avoid this by putting in sleep mode.
