The free C@B Secure CD is scheduled to be made generally available
to the campus community, at a number of distribution locations, on or
after next Tuesday, February 17.

The C@B Secure CD features Symantec Client Security (SCS), which
includes anti-virus and personal firewall software for Microsoft
Windows, and was recently licensed by the campus from Symantec
Corporation. You can learn more about the CD in the following draft
article, which is scheduled for online publication on or after next
Tuesday:

   http://seaotter.berkeley.edu/bcc/Spring2004/cabsecure.html

This is a reminder that the release of this CD - as well as a
recently adopted policy setting minimum security standards for
computers attached to the campus network, which the software on the
CD can help fulfill - will have support implications for campus
computing support providers and managers.

A beta version of the CD was announced via many campus computing
support mailing lists in early December 2003, and some of you
participated in its testing. However, via this message, we also
wanted to give you advance notice of the CD's planned release date.

If you have comments or suggestions regarding the C@B Secure CD,
the draft article above, or the initial C@B Secure website
<http://cab-secure.berkeley.edu>, please send them to us via the
"Submit feedback and comments" link at the bottom of each page on
that website. Thanks!
