Retrospect client won't install

Hi:
I have several Macs on which I can't install a Retrospect client.
When I click on the Install Retrospect Client (whether it's on the
CD or on the hard drive) the installation application doesn't launch
(or rather it begins to launch, but doesn't get anywhere).
On other macs that seem to be configured similarly, installation
proceeds with no problem.
OS 9. G3. virtual memory off. Retrosprct 5.0
Can anyone suggest what I might be doing wrong
