Thanks to everyone who told me to hold down the eject button on startup, which
worked, and also the mouse button, which I didn't try. Now, however, with a
cd-rom in place, I still can't get an option-boot to find another startup
disk. I've tried with the Jaguar disk (both #1 and #2) and with a Norton 7.0
disk. The startup manager finds no other bootable disk than the hard drive.

Is it possible that the cd-rom drive is dead?
